- Often considered the best possible hand in Teen Patti, Three of a Kind consists of three (3) cards of the same ranks. The best hand in this sequence is called Trio or Trail, and it’s comprised of three (3) Aces.
- Also called a Normal Run, a Straight is a hand made of three (3) consecutive cards of different suits. The highest Straight is, like the Straight Flush, A-K-Q, or Ace, King, Queen of different suits.
- Flush or Colour is a hand of three (3) cards in the same suit. They don’t need to be in consecutive order. The hand with the highest value wins.
- As the name suggests, Pair is a hand of two (2) cards with the same rank of any suit. For instance, a hand with two Aces and one two (A-A-2) is a pair.
- If none of the aforementioned sequences in found in your hand, then the highest-ranking card of your three cards decides your chances of winning (with Ace being the highest possible High Card).
How to Play Teen Patti Online: Important Terms
Playing Teen Patti in online casinos in India is fairly simple. But you need to understand the game well and know all the terms that could be used. We’ve listed the most important terms below!
- This is the initial amount of money that all players have to bet at the start of the round. In offline Teen Patti, this amount is predetermined.
- The act of putting money on the table before the game starts, or when a player calls or raises the current pool.
- This is an option that allows players to predetermine a specific amount. When they reach it, they have to show their hand.
- A player who continues to play without looking at their cards is ‘Playing Blind.’ This is more common in traditional offline Teen Patti.
- When a player ‘Calls,’ they have to double the stake (current bet) if they’ve seen their cards. If they’re playing blind, they have to match the stake.
- Also referred to as a ‘Side Show,’ a ‘Compromise’ is when two players who have seen their respective hands agree to compare their cards. The loser must fold.
Teen Patti: Variations
Aside from online and offline, Teen Patti can actually be played several other ways. Other variations depend on the ranking, card value, cards dealt, etc. The Teen Patti variations are typically played offline with other people and, therefore, may be unavailable in online casinos in India.
Here are some popular Teen Patti variations:
- As the name suggests, the objective of 999 is to create the number 999 with the hand you’ve been dealt. Player with the hand closest to 999 wins. For this variation, each face card (K, Q, and J) and the 10 card is given the value 0. The Ace (A) card is given the value 1.
- For this Teen Patti variation, four cards are treated as Jokers: the Ace (A), King (K), 4, and 7. Players can use these cards to build a winning hand.
- With this variation of Teen Patti, players are dealt four cards instead of three. The hand ranking is the same as with traditional Teen Patti. Players must still make the best possible three-card hand. The difference is that there’s an additional card to work with, which slightly improves the player’s chances of making a strong hand.
- In Joker Hunt, a set number of cards are shown to the players face up. The number of cards revealed by the dealer is equal to twice the number of players, plus three. So a three-person table would be shown nine cards, a four-person table would be shown eleven, etc. Once the players receive their cards, they can then discard one and pick from the cards that have been revealed.
- Also called ‘Lowball,’ Mufliss is a Teen Patti variation wherein the card ranks are reversed. In Mufliss, the worst hand – or the hand with the lowest hand value – is the considered the best hand. Likewise, the best hand – or the hand with the highest hand value – is the worst. So in Mufliss, you want to get cards with lower values (2, 3, 4, etc.).
